Chapter 1 Hampton Biochemical Research & Development Facility, United States 8/24/2032 09:39 a.m. Dr. Richardson: Good morning Henry. Dr. Thomas: Good morning John. Are we ready to begin the test? Dr. Richardson: Yes, I received the authorization papers earlier this morning. Dr. Thomas: Excellent, lead the way. Dr. Richardson: I have a good feeling about today's experiment. Dr. Thomas: Yeah, let's hope it turns out better than the last one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hampton Biochemical Research & Development Facility, United States 8/24/2032 09:50 a.m. Dr: Richardson: Henry, can you prepare the machine? I need to run another diagnostic on the subject. Dr. Thomas: Sure thing. Dr. Thomas: Everything is ready. Dr. Richardson: And the diagnostic is complete. Nothing seems to be wrong, but I still can't get the last experiment out of my head. Dr. Thomas: Don't worry, they told us that subject made a full recovery. Dr. Richardson: It's not that. Who am I to be messing with people in this way? Is it our job to play God? Dr. Thomas: I don't like it anymore than you do, but we both signed up for this. Dr. Richardson: Did we Henry? I don't remember "Super Soldier Human Experimentation" on the job application. Did you forget subject #13? Dear Lord, I still wake up at night with that screaming in my mind... Dr. Thomas: I know, but we have to do this. Finishing this experiment is the only way to make their sacrifices worth something. Dr. Richardson: I-I guess you're right, let's begin. You're sure the glass is soundproof? Dr. Thomas: Yes, and the patient is comatose. You don't need to worry about anything. Dr. Richardson: That's what they said about subject #1. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hampton Biochemical Research & Development Facility, United States 8/24/2032 11:05 a.m. Dr. Thomas: Alright, the machine says the experiment is completed. Begin the finalization diagnostic. Dr. Richardson: Interesting... Dr. Thomas: What is it John? Dr. Richardson: His physical attributes have increased drastically, but the brain activity is severely limited. Dr. What do you mean? Dr. Richardson: His body has entered a sort of "self-preservation" state. Its only goal is to keep necessary organs alive. The chemical has also negatively affected his immune system, some kind of virus is spreading through his body. Dr. Thomas: The chemical wasn't infected, I ran the diagnostic myself. Dr. Richardson: It's not that. Think of it as you would cancer. Something has to trigger the cancer cells, the same type of principal applies here. The chemical somehow triggered this reaction. Dr. Thomas: John, look! Dr. Richardson: I expected as much. Since the body is infected already with such a drastic virus, the brain does not believe that the skin is entirely necessary. It will deteriorate in many places, but many skin cells will continue to repair, so it won't all die. Dr. Thomas: Regardless, its disgusting. Tell me more about his "self-preservation" state. Dr. Richardson: Well, in theory, the body would act on instinct. Anything that's considered as food would be consumed, regardless of who or what it is. Dr. Thomas: So, you're saying that he would even eat people? Dr. Richardson: Yes, I'm afraid. And the "virus" that he is infected with, contains enough of the chemical to pass it on to someone else, and the cycle would continue. Dr. Thomas: How could he not tell he was eating someone? Dr. Richardson: Remember how I told you that his brain activity had become severely limited? Anything that smells or tastes like food, will be eaten. He won't remember that he isn't supposed to eat them. Dr. Thomas: So, will infected humans eat each other? Dr. Richardson: I don't know, this is all theory, but I would guess not. Since a large majority of the skin is dead, they wont smell or taste very appetizing. However, there's only one way to test that theory, and I pray that it won't be happening soon. Dr. Thomas: So, another failure? Dr. Richardson: Yes, at least there was no screaming right? Dr. Thomas: We don't know, the glass was soundproof. Dr. Richardson: *shudders* Subject 1... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hampton Biochemical Research & Development Center, United States 8/25/2032 03:13 a.m. Unknown man on radio: Have you found the chemical agent Hill? Agent Hill: Yes doctor Williams, I'm breaking into the container now. Dr. Williams: Very good, bring it to me! Agent Hill: Right away sir. Agent Hill, out. End Chapter 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 2 Hampton Biochemical Research & Development Center, United States 8/25/2032 05:42 a.m. Dr. Richardson: Henry, what's going on here? Dr. Thomas: Someone broke into the lab, the investigator here will give us more details. Investigator: Well, whoever broke in has been here for a while. They would've known about the maintenance on the security on this floor, and they would've needed to be authorized to get up here to begin with. Dr. Richardson: A sleeper agent? Investigator: That's my guess. Dr. Thomas: What was stolen? Investigator: One container of the latest strand of your super soldier chemical. Dr. Richardson: Whoever they were working for would've needed to know about the project, and I have a feeling I know how it is. Dr. Thomas: You mean Alex? Dr. Richardson: Yes I do, but the problem is he went off the grid after he was removed from the project. Dr. Thomas: And who knows what he's going to do with the chemical... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unknown Location 8/25/2032 12:53 p.m. Agent Hill: I have the chemical doctor. Dr. Williams: Very good, put the container into the machine. Agent Hill: It's ready doctor. Dr. Williams: Begin the duplication process. Agent Hill: Yes sir. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unknown Location 8/25/2032 01:35 p.m. Agent Hill: The process is completed and the mobile containers are ready. Dr. Williams: The chemical is fully weaponized? Agent Hill: Yes sir, the agents you requested have been given flechette rifles filled with the chemical. Dr. Williams: Excellent, you know what you need to do know. Agent Hill: Yes Sir. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hampton Biochemical Research & Development Center, United States 8/25/2032 04:42 p.m. Dr. Thomas: What would Alex want with the chemical? He knows it doesn't work. Dr. Richardson: He knows it doesn't work they way we want it to, he knows what it does. Do you remember why he was removed from the project? Dr. Thomas: He suggested "mass experimentation." Dr. Richardson: Yes, but the way he wanted to mass experiment was insane. He wanted to treat large groups of unsuspecting people with the chemical, round them up, and study them individually. Dr. Thomas: You don't think...? Dr. Richardson: Oh yes i do. Dr. Thomas: But where would he find a mass of people to test on? Dr. Richardson: I don't know, but who knows how long we have to find out...
