[ZÅ] History
Note: If you're applying for ZÅ, reading the Timeline is mandatory while the Full History is optional, but still worth a read.

November 2011 - An issue arises about Smiley and his making some commands unavailable to leaders. Three leaders step down in protest until it is resolved. An ultimatum is issued to Smiley and he refuses to comply, leading to his dismissal and the loss of the Beta Server.
23rd December - Slim sets up a new Beta-like server.
January - March 2012 - Star sets up several new things, including the ZÅ Newsletter (14th January), the Promotion/Demotion Committee, as a way of better handling promotions, the Member Bios, the ZÅ YouTube channel and (with leader {FC}Wings) the Mini Divisions, designed as a way of branching out into other areas.
April - Slim puts up a fully functional version of the Beta Script in the form of Alpha Pro Stats.

Full History
Pre-History: 2003-2009
*Fictionalized for dramatic effect* *In the beginning everything was normal, plain, and boring. It was after sometime that something terrible happened…a virus outbreak occurred. It infected humans and turned them into mutants. These “mutants” fed on humans. The mutants were later classified as zombies and the virus was later designated the “Z” virus. During this crisis there were only a few servers that tackled this dangerous situation.* After a while one server gained enough popularity and emerged as the leading server for controlling zombies. This server was called ‘Zombies with Dyna’ (ZWD). This server was the main server that people went to play zombies on. Before ZÅ was established everyone used to play in the ZWD server, even our beloved and admired creator, Trunks. ZWD was always full and it was the only zombie server at the time. Trunks wanting to play, decided to make and host his own amateur server. He hosted the server with his [CñR] tags. He named the server Zombies with Trunks since everyone was naming their severs like that. He used to host his own servers(not dedi) but they weren’t good. After that, he decided to try and find out how to use the free dedidicated servers. The free "dedis" also turned out to be a failure, as he set them up to hold ten players but after eight the server would lag severely and everyone would lag out. A day before he bought his server the idea of ZÅ began formulating in his head. It wasn’t until Christmas day that he decided to buy his own server. Thats when ZÅ began to take shape to eventually become the awesome clan it is today.
History: December 24, 2009-Present Day
Old Kingdom: December 24, 2009-January 28, 2010
Humble Beginnings: December 24, 2009-December 26, 2009
Trunks created the wetpaint site and posted the rules to his server. After that he began recruiting admins to control his server. This is when the well known admins were selected. Admins like Coke, Black Adder, Ice, Star , and many more. They all tried their best to make the server and site as successful and popular as they could. Players were glad that another zombie server had appeared. Players that were banned from ZWD had a second chance to play a zombie infection server. At that time anyone that joined the website was automatically a member of ZÅ becuase Trunks wanted as many members as possible. Everything was going according to Trunks’s plan, when an unforeseen crisis struck.
The ‘One Hour War’: December 27, 2009 5pm-6pm EST
At 4:54pm EST Dyna sanctioned a war with Trunks’s server. His justification for the war was that Trunks was copying his server. Trunks meanwhile was playing zombies on Icefields, panic was on bridge. Everything seemed normal, zombies were getting killed and humans were just trying to survive. It wasn’t until zombies started shooting and greanading the panic that it was realized that something bad was happening. The admins desperately tried to get control but they couldn’t as the rcon wasn’t working. The admins were forced to watch everyone breaking the rules and they were helpless to do anything about it. Dyna had someone change the rcon and had players grenading and shooting people on the bridge. To stop the chaos that had ensued Trunks had no choice but to close down his server. Shortly after Trunks and Dyna met in chat room and resolved the conflict. Trunks ended up changing the password and the server name to ZA Zombies. There has a been a shaky truce ever since but both leaders have remained respectful to each other and see each other as friendly competitors.
Postwar: December 28, 2009-January 1, 2010
Still recovering from the shock, Trunks proceeded with business as usual. The server and website slowly but steady gained popularity. It was on the 29th that ZÅ gained one of its most important associates, {FC}SlimJim. While (at the time) he’s not a part of the clan, he’s a guest admin and has been and still is the one of the top contributors to ZÅ‘s server(s) and site. He is most known for starting the second ZÅ server, creating mods just for ZÅ, and creating the new site. New game type modes were also added to spice things up. New members were joining left and right, it seem like everyone wanted to be a part of ZÅ. The incident that happened seemed like a distant memory and only those who were there really knew about it. It wasn’t until the 1st of January that we were reminded of that incident. Dyna made a thread saying that we were copying his “stuff” yet again. The problem was again resolved and he hasn’t said anything like that since.
Enlightenment Era: January 2, 2010-January 28,2010
During this period many changes came to ZÅ all of them being for the better. 1/02/10 There was a new test to become admin. This change came about due to members critiquing the old test, saying that it was to easy and that anybody could pass it. The new test instead of focusing on the rules of the server, focused on how to make rcon work and how to deal with offences. The test proved to be far more superior than the last. 1/8/10 The idea of admins being able to veto was brought up. The idea was passed and three days later it was added to the rules. 1/10/10 An idea was brought up that began a series of events that would change ZÅ. It all started with how easy membership was. The idea ended up in Trunks saying that we would eventually move to a new website. Slim proposed that he would start working on the new website. 1/18/10 The idea of ZÅ night was introduced. Everyone was ecstatic at the idea and couldn’t wait to play. Due to some loopholes some admins couldn’t join, so there was a change to the name of the event. Instead of ZÅ night it was changed to ZÅ and admins night. The event was scheduled to run from 7pm EST to whenever people left. ZÅ and admins night was schedule to be on that Saturday. 1/20/10 Trunks asked Slim if he could make mods just for this glorious occasion. 1/21/10 Slim replied saying that he was already working on a Bloodgulch mod, the mod however needed to be downloaded. Immediately after players saw this, they asked where and how they could do that. Also on the same day Black Adder made a thread showing a picture that he made and asked about adding it to the site. He got the approval and it was immediately added on the home page of the site. Since then the picture has being the main poster for ZÅ. 1/22/10 The mod page was added as so was the link to download the mod. Few hours later detailed instructions were added to the site so players knew how to install and make the modded map work. 1/23/10 ZÅ hosted its first ZÅ and admins night. It was a success, people liked the mod and were having fun. It was so such a blast that it was decided that ZÅ and admins night would be hosted every Saturday at 7pm EST and end whenever people left. 1/25/10 Slim surprised ZÅ when he declared a clan war between {FC} and [ZÅ]. This would be ZÅ’s first clan war and they were challenged by a mighty clan. The clan war was set to be played on their server which is on Bloodgulch with a modified version of Skelito’s Snipers Dream Team Mod (SDTM) on February 6th at 3pm EST. The clan war was to last one hour. Trunks had a sign up sheet made for people that wanted to join, he also told his members to train hard, as this was going to be a tough fight. 1/27/10 Players were tired of wetpaint giving them viruses. There was a complain thread made and Slim saw this as a call for him to finish the new site. 1/28/10 Slim “finished” the site. It wasn’t fully done but it was operational and ZÅ could move there right away. ZÅ had a new home.
New Kingdom: January 29, 2010-November 19, 2010
Intermediate Period: January 29, 2010-February 4, 2010
Some ZÅ members were already a part of the new site however; many didn’t know about it. During this time Trunks made the clan members aware that a new site had been made. A thread was made showing members how to join to the new site. The process of relocation ZÅ had begun. It would take a while but when it was finished it would be better than the last. At this time Trunks also said that the old site would be inactive after a few days and that everybody needed to migrate to the new site. By the end almost all the members had already transitioned to the new site. During the transition the concept of a Ban on Sight (BoS) list was mentioned. The idea was approved and shortly after we had a BoS and some players were already on it. There was also a change of how players could joined ZÅ. Instead of automatically being a member when they joined the site, they had to apply. The application consists of multiple questions.
{FC} Vs. [ZÅ]: February 5, 2010-February 6, 2010
On the Friday 5th Trunks held a special ZÅ night. It was special since this event was only to train for the upcoming war. On the 6th players were in the server an hour before for practice. It was basically to get a feel of what they would be facing. Five minutes before it started everyone that was going to participate was there. {FC} had seven players, while ZÅ had eight. At 3pm the clan war started. In the beginning things seem to be tied but after a while it was apparent that {FC} had the upper hand and were gaining the lead. Midway through the fight {FC} had a big lead and before the war finished, five ZÅ members had left the fight. Trunks, Coke, and Black Adder were left to fight the war by themselves. After the war finished it was apparent that {FC} had won. ZÅ didn’t have a chance in the end since only the kills of those who stayed counted. Trunks and Coke weren’t happy that their members deserted them and action was taken against those that left. {FC} was far superior during the fight and it wouldn’t of had mattered if all the members had stayed. In the end ZÅ lost its first clan war.
Golden Age: February 7, 2010-Present Day
After the clan war, everything went back to normal. The server was being run efficiently and new players wanted to become part of ZÅ. The size of the clan grew, as new members were being admitted to the clan. Trunks decided with all the new members, that clan rules were needed so that they don’t embarrass ZÅ. On the 10th official clan rules were added to the site. Servers rules had also been changed to fix loopholes, and it has remain unchanged for a while. New admins were also chosen. The server was staying up longer since we had more admins. Slim still works on mods just for ZÅ night, and every time they become more and more elaborate. On the 17th the history of ZÅ was added to the site, that way new members and old can know and remember about the rise of ZÅ to power. Everything was going how Trunks had planned. His server is one of the top servers that plays “zombies” and his clan continues to grow. ZÅ is still on the rise, and only time will tell what else there is in store for it.
New Management: April 3, 2010
The server was down for almost a week. Trunks had was having a difficult time paying for the server and was occupied with other task. Finally Saturday came and still no server, what made it worse is that it was clan night. Having given Trunks time to pay for the server, Black Adder decided to take matters into his own hands. Not wanting his fellow members to miss a clan night due to a lack of a server, he bought one. Trunks wasn’t active on the server nor the site. Due to this inactiveness Black Adder sought to strengthen the clan by having a leader that was always active. As he is always active both on the server and site he though he was fit for the job. After Trunks saw what he did he was pleased and was happy to give him the position of leader, he could also now focus on other aspects of his life. The new server password would stay the same in honor of our creator, as without him none of this would have had happen. Zombie Åssassins now belongs to Black Adder and he will make it rise beyond anyone's wildest dreams. The Golden Age still continues.
Broken, Beat & Scarred
After a long & Successful run The ZÅ website, hosted at CXR.CC (Also partnered with 0cost.net & 0cost.me) came under fire from multiple fronts. It was as if the world had descended upon the site. But Slim, being the crazy mate in the group, quickly resurrected what he could in the form of a new "Temp" site hosted on the Food Clan's Server. After sifting through the ruble left by limited files, "The Four Horsemen" stood their ground and began searching for Bastards who had attacked the [ZÅ] Website. While at first the attackers were unknown, we soon traced it too a group of players that wish to sabotage all other clans. By this time the DNS servers had updated & the domain was once again under fire from abroad. Slim contacted "The Code God", and worked through the night to secure everything possible from a code standpoint. Meanwhile {FC}"Mama"Taco had begun to "Seek & Destroy" the people responsible.
After a few days, we were able to gather a large list of "attempted" hacking by various people worldwide, while none were successful, it simply showed how much they wanted the site down. This further prompted Slim to introduce a form of Super-Nova styled security script, and it turned out to be so strong that we had a 75% return attack rate via the reverse connection of the TCP protocol. This gave the site a near limitless increase in security. The clans continued to move forward after this, while scarred forever, the brokenness was repaired swiftly & it shows the kind of brotherhood {FC} & [ZÅ] have. The Golden Age Continues...

New Password: July 6, 2010
Due to the server being "overun" by players who don't know the rules and making the server chaotic, Black Adder decided to change the password to the server effective imitatively. Everyone had to retake the server password test, there was NO EXCEPTIONS. This time players were expected to not give out the password to their "friends" because that's what made the server go chaotic. Since players had to retake the test they would be held to a higher standard of behavior.
{FC} and [ZÅ] Merge: November 19, 2010
[ZÅ]Black Adder having less time to manage the clan due to personal reasons, decided to step down as leader and let some one else take charge. However; no one at the present time in [ZÅ] could pay for the server, and after many ideas floated around it was decided that [ZÅ] would merge with {FC}. This decision came about because {FC}Slim was the leader of {FC} and also was a major contributor to [ZÅ]'s success and its many upgrades. It seemed only right that he should also be the leader of [ZÅ]. A few days after the decision was made; the merge was successful and both clans became one, and [ZÅ] became a sub-division of {FC}. Currently {FC}Slim has done a spectacular job in running both clans, and even a better job at keeping [ZÅ] alive.
1 Year Anniversary: December 24, 2010
One year after the creator "Trunks" came up with the idea of [ZÅ] the future still looks bright and promising. ZwD is no more and ZwG is nothing but a mere fraction of what ZwD used to be. [ZÅ] is still the most popular server to play a zombie game, and it is always trying to be ahead of everyone, even implementing "infection" mode to their servers. So far [ZÅ] has had three leaders, and {FC}Slim has done nothing but deliver and continue the rise of [ZÅ]. Happy Anniversary [ZÅ] and lets celebrate anniversaries till Gamespy decides to cancel Halo, because otherwise [ZÅ] will remain forever.
Changes to [ZÅ]servers: February – May 2011
February 23rd is when Slim made the transition of the passworded server to an open server thanks to phasor script. Phasor allowed the server to be self run and to reduce the admin presence in the server, since players could vote on which map they wanted to play. This allowed for almost everyone who played halo to try zombies, and not be scared about not knowing the rules. On the 14th of May Smiley changed his [ZÅ]server from various game types to strictly zombies. That was not the only thing he changed, for he implemented a rank system based on credits that were awarded by kills, sprees and other things.
Return of [ZÅ]Black Adder: June 2011
At the end of June, [ZÅ]Black Adder came back after he got settle and had time to play again. Once Slim saw that Adder was back he asked him if was going to be active again and Adder said yes. Sometime around July Slim decided to make Adder a leader again. With powers granted again Adder made the “[ZÅ] Infection Server Rules” (6-22-11) to try to restore order in the server since admins where not required to be present in order for continuous play.
[ZÅ]Star’s contribution: July 2011
During the ending of June and the beginning of July the server was being crashed. Strict bans were issued to stop possible crashers. To further punish offenders a B.O.S. was added on July 2nd courtesy of [ZÅ]Star, who was also a leader. Due to admin’s policies not being clear, varying depending on the admin, and admins complaining on what was allowed. Star (7-25-11) decided to compile from other admins what should be allowed and what shouldn’t. That was the beginning of the official admin guidelines.
[ZÅ] Open Door Policy: July 16, 2011
Talks about starting recruitment had been discuss weeks ago but it hadn’t done since leaders couldn’t come to an agreement. Finally [ZÅ] opened its “doors” to new members. Recruits had to undergo an interview by an admin level three or higher. After they had their interview it was posted on the site for the other clan members to vote whether that player was allowed as a trial member based on his/her answers. If they made it, they became trial members, and would have to wear the [zå] trial tags. They would have to be a trial member for a month till they became full-fledged members. [ZÅ]Numpty was in charge of taking care of new recruits. Players that were regulars to server were eager to join. As a result ZÅ’s numbers increased dramatically.
[ZÅ]Beta & TS3 servers: August 2011
At the beginning of August Smiley’s server started gaining popularity. It seems that players really liked having themselves being ranked against one another. Smiley just kept making small tweaks to his server making it even better. To show how experienced he was at scripting, Smiley made some scripts that are unique to his server. Scripts like: filtering words, ‘kickping’, and many more. He has also included other changes that are making his server one of the most popular servers in halo. It was also during this month (8-17-11) that slim added the TS3 server. Thanks to him clan members could talk to each other while playing halo.
[ZÅ]Admin Guidelines: September 2011
On September 11, Adder took the finalized admin guidelines and posted it on the site, that way every admin would know what he was allowed to do and not do. Adder made it so that every admin would have to sign the guidelines as a contract that the admins would uphold said guidelines. It also gave the admins a way to determine how long they should issue a ban for and offenses that were punishable.
Civil Conflict: November 2011
It all started when Smiley decided to remove specific admin commands in his Beta server. Right after that three leaders spoke to Smiley during different times about giving back the commands. During all three discussions Smiley said no, and said that the reason why he removed the commands was to stop admin abuse. However, even though it was found that smiley himself had abused his powers just recently, he was the only admin in beta that had full access to all the commands. Smiley’s reason for this was that he needed the commands to test his server. At that time nothing was done about it. It wasn’t till November 28th that another admin posted on the forums that some commands should be reinstated that leaders decided to take action in order to get commands back. At the end of the thread two leaders stepped down as a form of opposition of what the outcome was. Another leader stepped down as soon as he saw what the other two had done. It wasn’t till later that day that all three leaders that stepped down talked on xfire and resolved their issues, and decided on a way to handle “hot” topics. It was then that all three leaders gave smiley a chance to restore the commands or to get kicked out due to insubordination. Smiley’s server was the most popular [ZÅ] server but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that Smiley was not listening to his leaders. In the end Smiley still refused to reinstate the commands and was subsequently removed from [ZÅ]. His server was later renamed, and soon after there was a backlash from some clan members. In the end ZA has made some changes to its Alpha server and will continue to tweak it till it’s perfect. Despite improvements to alpha members still wanted a Beta like server.
2nd Year Anniversary: December 24, 2011
Slim gave the next day off to all members so they could enjoy time with their families. And the next day on the 25th Slim had a server up that was a bit like Beta. While it is still going through some fixes, this was a great gift for members that missed Beta. More fixes were being made to Alpha, and the server is usually full. [ZÅ] is still alive and strong in their second year of existence.
Star’s Reign: 1st Q of 2012
As one of the leaders of [ZÅ], Star has implemented new things to the site. One of the most popular one is the Newsletter, with the 1st issue coming out in January 14th. Star appointed Carnage & Hat as editors of the Newsletter, and so far they have done an amazing job. As of now [ZÅ] has seven issues. The other thing Star did was to create the “Promotion/Demotion Committee”. This Committee functions as a better way to handle members. Star also created a section for member’s biographies. This is a great way to encourage members to share about themselves and learn more about each other. Another thing Star created was the youtube account for [ZÅ]. Master A is currently spamming posting videos of his last stand, and other halo related content which lets the world know about [ZÅ]. Site wise Star made minor changes by adding more color, and changing some link placement. Saved best for last… Star created the Mini-Divisions (influenced by Wings). The reason behind them is to try to expand [ZÅ] into different games, as a way of World Domination!
Stats Reborn: April 2012
After a much anticipated wait, Slim Finally relased a fully functional version of the Former Beta Script, Stats! While the hours spent making it were long the payoff has been great. Its also more Functional and stable than its Predessesors. While the Server is still having stability issues, the scripts underneath are rock solid!
[ZÅ] Race server: July 3, 2012
In an attempt to branch out outside of zombies a race server was created with an “everything” is allowed mindset. Players found that an almost rule free server was fun to play in. For a while the server seem like it would last, however players did not like that they were being killed a lot. After a few weeks the server was empty and the idea was scrapped.
[ZÅ] Minecraft server: October 11, 2012
As the idea of branching out due to the MDs a minecraft server was hosted. Players joined the server exited over being able to build and show off their creative ideas. The servers lasted about a month before interest was lost. The idea to revive the server is still expected to happen.
3rd Year Anniversary: December 24, 2012
There was a party for the third anniversary of [ZÅ] and the classic server was full of members playing old school games. In its third year it safe to say that [ZÅ] will continue to grow and stand for brotherhood of its members as a family. Some say that [ZÅ] is their second home.
RankWarz: January 20, 2013
Slim in all of his greatness came up with another idea for a server. This server utilizes the rank system of stats to buy weapons and other perks. RankWarz was popular when it came out and players still play there.
{FC} Merges with [ZÅ]: March 1, 2013
It was discussed approximately at the beginning of February that {FC} was going to merge with [ZÅ] due to the {FC} revival not going so well. Leaders decided that the merge was okay but they wanted to make sure that the clan was okay with it. A poll was taken and the majority approved of the merge. Later on a vote was done to see what name this new clan would take. Zombie Åssassins won the majority vote and the merge was finalized. Around the middle of March the domain name was change to zaclan.org and so was the names on the server. {FC} will always be remembered since without them [ZÅ] could not have survived.
