Ok, so I got this laptop bout a week ago, and it's pretty cool.
Cept, i downloaded Halo and got a few problems x:
First off, it's telling me that I apparently don't have enough RAM to play halo. Laptop's brand new, AMD A8 QuadCore, no idea why this is going on D:
Secondly, says I need administrator access to dl the multiplayer patch...this computer has two accounts under account management, this one and a "guest"...
Third, asked around which laptop would be nice to play halo on...they said this one cuz it's got a separate graphics card. can someone fill me in on what that means and what i need to do with it, if anything? 8D
k sorry for being such a nublet.

The admin privs, right click on halo, one of the options says run as administrator. Click that and run halo like that. A graphics card makes the graphics look better. |

What Jug said, if anything says it needs administrator permission, just right click>Run As Administrator, that is if the account is an administrator, otherwise it will probably ask you for the administrator's password.
And about the RAM, not sure how much do you have? If it is a problem you can use like a flash drive and set it up for readyboost and that might help a little depending on the size of it. If it is running fine anyway, you should be able to just skip that message.

RAM: If it's brand new, you're probably running Windows 7, which uses 1gb RAM for 32bit or 2gb RAM for 64 bit. Halo only needs 128mb of RAM, but of course your computer runs other things. So ... anything in excess of 3gb RAM shouldn't be a problem.
You can find out how much RAM you've got in System Information (Open System Information by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Information.) If you really don't have enough, you can buy more, but it's a bit of a fiddle to install, and your laptop might not actually have space for more. You can probably safely ignore that.
Admin Priv: What Numpty says works, I can't remember if it's permanent. If it's not, right click the shortcut, go to Properties, then "Compatibility", then select the Run This Program As An Administrator check box and click OK.
Graphics card: This is just like a separate processor to the one which runs your main programs, dedicated to graphics if you like. It gives you better FPS, and if it's really good you might be able to render 3D images. :O I would presume that (especially since you're running a laptop) it comes pre-installed, so you shouldn't need to do anything.
Hope that helps. :D
E: Spent too long typing this, you already replied to say it worked. >_> The reason it would be running from disk is if it still needs file. Just get a crack from Red. :P

If you want to make sure that's it's running then go to System Information or Device Manager (Google if you don't know what they are) and find out if it's enabled. Also, worth looking on the side/back of the laptop for any switches, but don't go taking it apart if you don't know what you're doing.

When you run multiplayer it should update automatically. Let it do it. |

It will only automatically update if you run it as an administrator the first time. |
