So I actually was going to scan and start a new segment on a book I recently bought; "The Average American Male". But I found out that it is illegal. I think instead we should just have more 'Storytime with Carnage' in teamspeak. So Carnage buy the book.

Excellent.
First off, some non-fiction. I recommend 'Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid'. It's difficult to describe this book other than as a masterpiece. The subject matter ranges from art to music, mathematics to biology, and from logic to artificial intelligence. There's a real sense of inter-connectedness - intriguing links between all areas of human culture, as well as clever wordplay which is very amusing. Structurally, every other chapter is a 'dialogue', a mini-play, inspired by the works of Lewis Carroll and setting the scene for the next chapter. It's a significant task to read, but highly rewarding - you'll come away with a new sense of understanding of the world we live in.
For some light relief, I must recommend the works of Douglas Adams. His 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' series is funny in the extreme, completely ridiculous but utterly compelling. If you've never read any Adams, you must sample his style. I also recently started reading his 'Dirk Gently' series, equally bizarre, and has me chuckling on practically every page.

Heinlein, recently i read his "Door into Summer". Brilliant scifi writer, one of the best in my opinion. I'd recommend space cadet. ;D

I haven't seen the film! Although I hear it has Stephen Fry in it ... sounds good. I'll have to get a copy somewhere. What did you think (I assume you've seen it)?

Read Thee inheritance series and the Stormlight Archive if you like fiction . and also The Gray Man is a very good action book.
anything by Brandon Sanderson is Amazing. Elantris and Stealheart are very good books also Dracula if you like drama/horror ish.
Louis L'Amour Books are good if you like Westerns. Magic Kingdom For Sale Sold is good to. i read allot

I highly recommend Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicle.(Starts with The Name of the Wind)
The third book isn't out yet, but the first two books are brilliant. I'd review them here, but they already have literally thousands of positive reviews out there, so just google it. |

I've read The God Delusion but not The Greatest Show on Earth. Is it worth reading? I quite liked the former, but found it rather aggressive and condescending. Is the latter interesting from a scientific point of view or is it another tirade against theists?

I love a hitchhiker's guide!!! I haven't read them in ages. If you like harry potter I recommend His Dark Materials series. If you like dark comedy and satire, nihilistic type shit I recommend Invisible Monsters and Choke by Palahniuk. No matter how shitty your life, you'll be grateful for it, or not - LOL! I could recommend a million books, all fiction, this thread would take me days to complete, so I'm just leaving it there.
