No one likes them, so I implemented a system that punishes rqers by banning them for a day. I won't go into the details of how it works or people will start coming up with ways to go around it, but so far it has been pretty successful at catching rqers.

does it also work on last humans that quit when zombie next game or just on those that become zombie then quit?

1 day ban seems reasonable, LOL! Well, a bit harsh, maybe only like a 1 game ban? And @ Q, his server I think tells you when you come back in that it's not nice to leave and come back or something like that. I think also, that you can only judge an RQ if a person leave RIGHT after they become zombie without any effort to kill a human, or right at game start if they won the prev. game.

For now it works on those who quit after starting as a zombie. I'll look into including last humans who quit.
@q:
I checked the logs and all the people who were banned quit almost instantly after they were killed by a zombie. This is the very definition of an RQ. 55 bans may seem excessive to you, but 55 RQers seems excessive to me.
If you have to leave for some reason and happen to do it right after being killed by a zombie, you will unfortunately be classified as an RQer. I know this seems a little unjustified, but if you must leave then you'll have to chose the time wisely.
The player who is banned won't know why because they've already left the server, but it will be clearly stated in the logs so if they make an appeal the reason can easily be checked.

I like it i understand if a misunderstanding a lot of times i have to leave and as im leaving i get killed or i win and i lag out while joining the next game

Thanks smiley. I hate rage quiters. Although i find that it may be pretty simple to find a way around it?
And although supreme brings a good point, sometimes although only happened to me once, i had to quit right after i died as last man standing. But i guess it is agreeble.

As far as I'm aware there's really only one way around it. In fact, there is only one solution for this and you're not going to like what it is. I suggest if you do happen to figure out how to get around it you don't abuse it or I will have to use the solution as many times as I need to. |

Double post + bump for update.
I have devised a new method to "punish" rqers. Afaik it is completely foolproof. Here's how it works:
Every time you quit as a zombie or as last man, your hash will be added to a table. When a new game begins, the server picks alphas from this table first before moving on to other players. If you join while a game is in session and you are in the table, you will join as a zombie no matter what. Each time you start as an alpha or spawn as a zombie, one entry of your hash will be removed from the table.
In other words, habitual rqers will find that the server increasingly places them on the zombie team. If you actually do have some reason for quitting as a zombie, you will be added to the table as well. However, the system basically works on a chances. The more a player rqs, the greater chance he will have of being chosen as an alpha since there are more entries of his hash in the table.
If you aren't a habitual rqer but did in fact quit as mentioned above, you can easily pay off your "debt" by joining in the middle of a game and being placed on the zombie team a few times. |

Spawn as a zombie? Mind clarifying? Like spawn could mean
a. Start in the middle of a game, spawning as a zombie
b. being infected and spawning as a zombie
c. dying as a zombie and respawning
If it's the last, seems like clearing your hash off the table would take quite a short amount of time.
Any way to implement a timer/trigger? Like tbh, sometimes I just get bored of being a zombie, but I usually stick around until I get a kill. So if possible, check for a kill as a zombie, or add a timer for say...5min...after which quitting won't be an offense?
Possibility of hashtable+LMS as alphas? I mean, LMS not being alpha kinda defeats the meaning of alpha...
and mebbe add the hash twice instead of just once after a rq? be evil >
apologize if any of the above were addressed, and i just didn't understand ^^

Sorry for not clarifying. Option A would answer your first question.
As for alpha zombies, I didn't forget about the last man. This is the order in which players are considered for alphas:
1. Last Man of previous game.
2. Players on RQ table.
3. Everyone else.
4. Alphas of previous round are exempt (not considered at all). |

What would happen if you lag out? I was playing in the HB server today and I was the last man. Shotty tried to join and I lagged out. Our internet connection is stupid some times. |

I will like that, because I never RQ, and I almost never leave as a zombie, but it seems if the alpha leaves, I am the one chosen ALWAYS NO MATTER WHAT!!!! |

I think it should only be a 4 hour ban or something. because internet and stuff can mess up at the worst times. and it basically stops them from ragequitting and rejoining just to get another zombie

1 day ban should be enough, 2 days ago i played zombies, when the game started i was the starting and only zombie.
what happened next was: i killed a human and directly after that he just quit, the next human i killed did the same, quit direktly after he was killed and that doesnt feel good when you are alone and there wont be any players joining you because they just quit so 1 day ban for me is enough(1 year is better hehe )

@Last two posts, Smiley changed the system so that it punishes you by making you more likely to start as zombie in new games.
I prefer this, as it's less of a pain than lagging out/having to go and being banned ...
