I can't believe this is even a debatable topic. Being raised by the government leads to tons of social problems. Just basing it on how a individual that is raised away from a loving mother and father often have emotional problems later on in life. Even the physical side, if a child is not picked up and played with, they can develop improperly, I believe I've even read that they can become sterile. Children should be raised by their parents, not some self proclaiming propaganda spreading machine.
It would be lovely if everyone were to look out for one another, regardless of age, and thus in a sense 'take responsibility' for each other. That said, imposing the beliefs of society and even those of their parents on a child is, in my eyes, an unacceptable barrier to the child's development. On the contrary, we should all encourage children to be openly sceptical and critical, to think for themselves, and to take responsibility for their own development, motivations, and consequent actions.
parents.............they made you.....they put in time(well suppose to) in raising and paying for stuff for you(well suppose to). Do they completly own you like a gameboy. No. You are a person. Though they should have a strong say in helping you getting through life and such( as long they normal non-assholey parents)
The point of parents are for them to get you prepared and ready for the skills you need in life. Just as other animals raise their offspring until they can survive by themselves.
So your parents are suppose to show you how to think....not what to think...
