Well i know how corporals+ can initiate a votekick/mute but ive had a problem when there are a lot of noobs in the server which do not like to vote at mutes and kicks and there are no admins on xfire and there are heavy rule breakers.
For example:
One player is insulting another player. No admins on xfire. Server is full of noobs and dont like to @kick/@mute. Corporal+ is initiating many votemutes/kicks but no one is voting. What you do? report on site and foodclan.com get informed. But the player has already been insulted by the other player. The other player never joins again because he/she was insulted. We lose recruitments.
Ive had this problem many times and so has many corporals+
We, the clan, should do something about this
P.s. This happens a lot to me because i live in Australia, Therefore no admins are on because it is night time when i play, differ time zones

Everyone knew no to break rules around me! |

Take Screenshots of the incidents and report it on site.

Yea, take screenshots and stuff. We usually don't have too much of a problem, because regulars play, and people who genuinely like the gametype and gameplay return. The votekick/mute is lowered down way low (half of the players have to vote for it) and if it gets lowered too much it might be abused. Usually, people only vote for votemute if it's really bad, but you MAY have some problems getting one to pass if there are many bad guys on. (generalizations)

Paradox, don't you think it will be easier to report Corporals abusing votekick, rather than reporting rule breakers? I was in the server last night with joe and I see his point. It's really hard for any regular ZA member to enforce basic rules. And honestly, a ZA member has alot more to lose if they abuse votekick/votemute. |

Who mentioned Corporals abusing votekick? Are Corporals abusing votekick? I don't think that's what this thread is about.

Joesph is suggesting that the votemute/votekick get lowered or something along that nature because he says it isnt working out for him. Para said that if it got lowered down to much it could be easily abused (ex. a kid says "fuck you" a few time after he gets infected and a vote mute that only takes a few votes perma mutes him, a little harsh for the offence.) Soul is saying that it would be easier to monitor the corps using votemute properly instead of monitoring all the rule breakers in the server.
I think its fine how it is.

I thought Joseph's problem was that no one voted when votes are started. Any solutions to which would be to lower the votes needed for it to pass.

We're getting more and more admins all the time. There's often one available on xfire. I'd rather have someone who knows exactly how to force the rules, enforcing the rules. @votekicks and @votemutes are to be used in extreme circumstances, in which case it is likely that all of the players will want the abuser gone.
I think it's fine as it is. If you want, tell the 'victim' that we'll be sure to sort out the problem ASAP and that they're always welcome in our servers.

A lot of the newer members would rather vote mute/votekick than call an admin in to enforce the rules. The problem with this, like master said, is that it Permamutes people who don't really deserve this. We could change votemutes to a lower amount and change it from a permamute to an increasing amt (first offense a week, 2nd a month, 3rd perma) but other than that I don't see the need for it to be the staple of rule enforcement for non-admins.

hmm the rq system i mentioned. global tracking of @mutes that were successful with increasing penalties? with "strikes" being lowered every so often? first time players @ mute say it mutes for 10-20 minutes, 2nd mutes a day, 3rd mutes a week, thrn maybe at the end of a month one mute tick is removed to make sure someone who had a bad week doesnt end up perma for minor infractions? ( slim is going to hate me for suggesting more coding)
*in the fine print definition of being server active* ....{FC}[ZA]Althor, will no longer be server active |

i agree with para. I think lowering the votekicks/mutes will be successful and you can make it like a trial so if it does get abused we'll change it back
