Recent Lag Spiking

I have heard many people saying that the server has become increasingly laggy in the last few weeks. I am not sure what could cause this but it seems like the lag started around the same time that the Minecraft server went up on the box. Is that what could be causing that lag? Does the box not have enough RAM to power the halo servers and the MC server too? If that is the case maybe we could consider dropping the Alpha and FC servers that go largely unused. Would that help easy the load on the box and lessen the lag for the remaining servers?

How much ram do u have in the box for one?
How many server's are you running with your connection speed?
What is your connection speed?
I hanestly haven't been experiencing any lagg on the server. Then again, I am central usa. Ver yrarely do i get a small lagg spike. here and there i will warp just barely, but not enough for anyone to notice.

I prefer Alpha to Pro2 personally, wasn't Pro2 even suggested to become a No Ban server at some point? If we were to get rid of a ZA server/FC servers, I think it'd be fair to agree which/how many would be removed. Think FC members should have a say in their servers, and ZA/ZAFC members should be be able to voice which server(s) should be removed from ZAs servers. If any actually need to be removed, that is.
Edit: Does the race server even still exist?

I really like the FC servers, especially Classic Snipers - would be a shame if they went. We should try to get more people on them.
It would be good to have 2 zombie servers, but 3 is a little taxing to fill up. Perhaps keep Stats and Alpha, since Pro2 is very similar to Stats and not as frequently used.
I would like the race too - but I don't know what happened to it. It disappeared while I was on holiday.

Pro2 is not on the box and is a separate server unto itself and therefore doesn't contribute to any lag.
I think if we were to drop Alpha we should put the stats system on Pro 2 and then I think it would be popular too and since it's on a different system that wouldn't affect the other servers. Other than the stats system there is little difference between pro 2 and alpha stats yet stats is full a significant portion of the day and pro 2 only fills up when stats has overflow.
I don't want to sound like Im proposing we get rid of FC but having popular servers that bring in members follows the law of supply and demand. Players demand stats, and if we supply them with it they will come and join our clan. "If you build it they will come". As of right now people aren't demanding servers like the FC servers and that is why they sit empty. I mean we have the box and we pay a flat fee but if we only have 1 or 2 servers out of 5 on it that are being utilized then having a private box becomes very cost prohibitive.
You may have noticed that the ASH clan which started only a couple months ago and now has about 15 servers and most of them are full most of the time. This is because they found some variable that players want and they exploited it and consequently have 10-15 constantly full servers.
We want to expand the clan and sometimes in order to do that you have to change a little to grow a lot.

I agree that the servers need changing around somehow. At the moment we have three zombies servers, one of which is rarely used, two sniper servers, which I've never seen anyone in and Classic.
There are 576 Halo servers on Gametracker - Stats is 48th but Alpha and Pro 2 are between 275th and 300th and the FC servers are at about 330th. No more than 5 people at one time have been in either of the FC servers in the last month and no more than 10 in Alpha. All these are great servers and I'd like to see them used but no matter how much we have a drive to get our members in there they're unlikely to match the popularity of Stats or even Classic (which is above Pro 2 on GameTracker). It seems a shame for Slim and our donors to have to pay for servers which aren't often used.
I suggest that until Slim (or someone else) has time to implement a way to make these servers more popular that maybe we should take one or two of them down and take the load off Stats and Classic or swap one of the servers for something like a mixed gametype server, which could include our old race gametype.

before we start shutting down servers let me tweak the server. or at least see if i can optimize the process priority.

I would like to keep FC servers, they're great.
I say get rid of Race.
Keep Pro2 and Stats.
Not sure about Alpha.
Keep Classic.
