What do you think about the Death Penalty?
Are there some crimes that deserve it?
How does your religion or faith affect how you see it?
If you support the death penalty - what if it was your mom that committed the crime?
If you're against it - what if it was your mom that was murdered?
If you were on the jury - would you be able to vote for the death penalty for a person you didn't know?
How sure would the evidence need to be?

if there were one hundred percent true evidence and it was a serial killer or a sociopathic killer I would completely support death penalty in other cases I view it as excessive because living in a prison is a horrible way to live in itself

I don't support the death penalty. For one reason. I want the people to suffer. Death is an easy way out. Yes I know, economics play a role in this as well. If someones goes off on that I'll make a reply to that. But if I had it my way, torture until natural death would replace the death penalty.

@Bvig - prison life is actually pretty good. There's this add for universal health care that features a guy that needed cancer treatments but couldn't afford them - also couldn't afford insurance - but made too much money for medicaid/care. So he robbed a store for a buck or two then confessed so he would be sent to prison. IN prison - you have the right to federally funded medical care - so he got his cancer treatment.
Another case - a man in prison sued the government for serving crunchy peanut butter. And he won. The hard bits broke his tooth - cruel and unusual punishment.
Prisoners are given free access to education, lawyers, jobs, savings accounts, room, board, clothing, medical, dental, vision, and when they're realeased? Housing, psychologists, therapists, job placement, continued education, rehabilitiation, etc etc etc etc....
And our taxes pay for all of this.

i am for the death penalty but for a different reason then most people are.
when a killer goes to jail he doesn't stop killing, he continues to kill the others in jail (people most don't care about). With that being said i don't see any other way to stop them from killing then the death penalty. at least no other way to stop them while still treating them like a human.
killers don't stop. most would, if they had the chance kill again. |

well there is a difference between those kind of small crime prisons and the big penitentiaries if your being sent to a smaller prison I feel there is no reason for a death penalty at all and if it's a penitentiary I think you should only get it if you are a sociopath because they just enjoy killing and feel no remorse whatsoever

Some people are seriously messed up and will just go back to murdering people as soon as they can. Do they deserve to live?

The British did that with their prisoners. Thus Australia was born.

I do not support the death penalty, simply because of the fact that it is immoral to do something based on the idea that two wrongs make a right. Obviously If a person is murdered they will not be able to live out the rest of their lives to its fullest potential, but how would executing their killer make any difference in the fact that they are still dead.
Also I have a total disregard for eyewitness testimony in capital murder cases. I showed the following video to my psychology class a couple years ago and was totally blown away by the results. http://www.youtub...JG698U2Mvo
I think that too many people are put away for life or sentenced to death based on supposed "eyewitness" testimony. As a Richard Dawkins suggests in his book "The Greatest Show on Earth" it should be a requirement of the court system that jurors be shown that video before they deliberate on cases.

in some cases i support death penalty and heinous crime such as a prolonged troture and death of multiple ppl, intentionally murdering law enforcement (my whole family is law enforcement) and murder of young children other then that its pretty much a case by case thing for me (i know alot about law cuz half my family is cop, a quarter are lawyers and the other quarter dea, fbi, cia)plus im not sure if i want to be a doctor or lawyer (i think doctor since im deaf and it would be hard to keep pace in a courtroom)
