Ok for my senior year in my high school i have to take a course called Engineering Design and Development (EDD). For this class i basically have to improve on an already existing product or such. I need your help because i have yet to pick a topic and i need one by tomorrow. If you all could please just answer this question:
Gee, I hate it when...
Serious answers please. The question can be answered like : "... my door hits another car as i open it to get out" or "... my gold/silver rings get bent and the only way to fix them is very expensive" Those were topics are of other students in my class and i cannot use them :/
Please help! Thank you! |

I don't know if that's sarcasm or not, but if not, i think you missed the gist. It has to be a product that you find a flaw in. |

airbags, rather a safe item, but deadly if outside of a specific size. ive been saved by em, and had to be taken to the hospital for airbag related injuries.
perhaps a system designed to apply an airbag of proper size given the passenger, or even better, would be a movable mount to compensate how far it reaches out given cabin size and person size. |

to add more to slim idea. the system could determine power of airbag base on the weight on the seat? |

Raz, you are a genius. And we could improve that even further - if you're over a certain wait it automatically calls an ambulance to treat you for your imminent heart attack.
Along the lines of 'I hate it when I have a heart attack and the paramedics aren't there fast enough.'
Hey, that's almost a good idea. Almost.

gee i hate it when those stupid car commercials come on about when you hit the break you charge the battery. like are you frigin kidding me why couldn't they put in a small generator so when the tires are moving it charges the battery they could throw that in with the new electric cars so the car would go farther so you wouldn't have to stop as much to charge the battery.
thats my true thoughts your welcome phoenix. XD
........if you get rich off my idea you better cut me in. -.- rofl

So the wheels turn the generator which produces electrominicity? Only problem with that would be that you'd need more power to turn the wheels to power the generator and move the car at the same time. Therefore any electricity produced would probably be canceled out because the motor has to work harder.
That's why it charges when you brake - clearly you don't want the wheels to turn anymore so there's no harm in directing this kinetic energy to produce electricity. So sorry Mortal but I'm afraid the large team of professional scientists have got it right.

the electricity made won't be canceled out but yeah it stil won't produce the same amount used to turn the wheels at the same time but the battery would still last a bit longer without having to charge. lol

Well, you can't just create energy from nowhere.

hat your not thinking it threw let me try to make it simpler with a mopad. 2 wheels on a mopad the front for turning and the back has a chain which is turned by the engine. now the chain is only on one side of the tire so after putting in the generator put another chain on the opposite side of the back tire to turn the generator to create electricity. here i'll amp it up a bit ok then two batteries one will run the vehicle and the other will be charging when the first battery dies just swap them out so then you have what has been charging during the first battery and now charging what you can on the dead battery. yes i know there is no proven method to create infinite energy but still you can create some energy to last a the vehicle a bit longer before you have to charge one of them at a stop because both are dead.

Moped*
I'm not expert but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work. Imagine you have a generator. Turn it. It takes energy. Same with this moped wheel - it can't charge this new battery without more power being put out by the first battery. So yes, you can charge another battery but it will only run down the first battery sooner. A lot sooner. It all cancels out - you need to use energy that would otherwise be wasted, e.g. the heat from the brakes and the kinetic energy of the wheels when you want to slow down.
Science.

omg hat. XD ok ok one battery powers the engine to turn the back wheel ok you got that in your head now the first battery is turning the wheel now at the same time the second chain on the other side of the tire will turn the generator because the first battery is turning the wheel the wheel turns the second chain at the same time to turn the generator. if don't understand that it's gona be hard for me to simplify it anymore. lol

I understand perfectly what you're saying. And I'm saying I don't think it will work. Because. The wheel can't just turn the chain which charges the second battery with no effort. If it did that then nothing would happen, there would be resistance from the generator (if not then it wouldn't do anything). Following?
So the second generator is providing resistance, meaning that the back wheel slows down. To compensate, i.e. move at the same speed, more power is required form the first battery. Therefore, any power that the second battery gains would be canceled out because the first battery is using more power.

oh yeah i know that. lol they way you wer saying it the way it looked to me was that you was saying it wouldn't work at all in the age of electric cars charging your vehicle will be cheap..... hopefully. so whats a little more energy to turn the wheel to charge the battery also yes the resistance will be there every time you start moving but once you get going it goes effortlessly. XD
