(2,4) is the only integer solution - there are infinitely many real solutions. I actually did that as a practice interview question a month or so ago. There's quite a neat proof.
The story of the Pythagoreans's abuse of the discoverer of irrational numbers is rather nebulous - we have very little concrete knowledge about them. It's a good story though.

oh yeah, Saturn and Uranus, and Neptune all have aurora as well, and Jupiter gives off radio waves... (i have a few friends in radio astronomy who observe this)
