I feel that Alcohol should NOT be prohibited. The problem with prohibition is that it spawns too many criminal organizations which start by creating alcohol, then spread to other, more malicious activities. Like grimm mentioned in the xfire chat, it did cause Al Capone and many other gangs to rise to power (and keep it).
That being said, I believe that alcohol is a liquid drug. It dulls the senses, and is only imbibed because of the feelings it causes. I really don't care if other people drinking it, but I feel that it is morally and ethically wrong, and I, for one, will never partake in it. I want my body to be my own, not owned by alcohol.
In short, Prohibition is the wrong way to go about getting rid of alcohol, but something needs to be done. Alcohol is a plague (especially if used by minors and people who are addicted to it).
*Note*
I don't mean to offend anyone who drinks alcohol, I just wanted to show my standpoint on the whole thing.

@The government has a duty to protect its citizens from harmful substances (Ninja)
I totally agree with this. Governments don't allow citizens to have access to strong weaponry (In the US, It's illegal to buy many military-grade weapons), and they also don't allow certain substances to be sold (Such as certain chemicals) to the general public. The reason is that they have a high chance of inducing harm upon themselves and others, when used irresponsibly, even in a mild manner.
The same goes for alcohol. It is dangerous. Many studies prove this. Like the chart showed, Alcohol is both addicting and physically damaging. Why shouldn't it be banned?

To end really, the side that is in support of prohibition really only has "arguments" for the actions that individuals take WHILE they are (and if) intoxicated. Example: drinking and driving. Perhaps you should argue that certain actions should not be legal WHILE intoxicated? The only other point that side has is, "alcohol can be bad for your body." Um yea so what? First off, A LOT of other things are bad for your body. Second, who is one to say what another can and cannot do to their body if they are not endangering others? This debate was held LONG ago and to put it simple, prohibition lost for a multitude of reasons. That is what the big guys in DC learned decades ago.
