I answered "impossible to tell" because the question is ambiguous. Reading it as I would be inclined to do so, I would agree with Star.

Raz, in that sentence youre under the assumption that 'some' of the pens in the drawer are a whole different 'some' than the ones mentioned before. Either you are wrong or you need to give us more information.

Lets say i have 10 pens some of them are blue[3 of them] and some are in the drawer[5 of them] the answer would be impossible to tell so you are wrong

Just had to get this in, Star is right, we would need more information to tell. Like say there were 5 pens, 2 were blue, and 4 of those pens were in the drawer. Then some of them, at least 1, would be blue, but you didn't specify how many pens there were and how many were blue.

Some of hte pens are blue and some of those pens that are blue are in the drawer so are any ofhte pens in the drawer blue? FREAKING A YES So.......you all fail. |

You never said the pens in the drawer were the same as the original pens mentioned. Some only implies a fraction of the whole. You never told us how many pens were in the whole, nor how many colors we had, so we could not deduce whether or not there were any of the blue pens in the drawer. You never said "those" in your question either, if you had, ALL OF US would have said yes. So based on the wording of YOUR question, it is impossible to tell. Re-word it and we'll adjust our answers. |

@Raz, yes my picture only shows the most obvious and intuitive reading of your question. There are by all means different readings as a consequence of the wording of the question.
BUT ... by the nature of there being more than one interpretation of the question, the result is impossible to tell: in other words, it varies with the reader.
