What is happening to America?

I could go on and on about the subject, but I'll just say this: Society, because of the Government (at least in America) has eliminated the chance for Survival of the Fittest to function correctly.
Those least able to survive without support (poor, lazy, drug addicted, willfully unemployed, etc), are the only ones guaranteed survival through Government aid. I don't know the statistics, but from personal experience in my area (one of the poorest communities in the nation), the poorer the family, the more children they have. While the well educated, productive members of society have less or no children and survive without help.
So what is happening, is the those least fit to survive are not only surviving, but producing more offspring than those that are fit to survive. So opposite of the natural world of the animal kingdom where the strongest survive to evolve the species into something better - the USA is producing a weaker race of humans, while the strong are dwindling in numbers.
This is what has been happening to the US since the creation of Medicaid, Medicare, Food Stamps, TANIF, CHIP, and Free Housing.

Or they could just start drug testing, eliminate aid to those who do not find work in a reasonable amount of time, create more jobs with all that campaign money, teach and promote sex ed in lower income communities, etc.

I think Obama's a better president that Dubya was... And I'd rather have Obama in the White House than McCain or Romney. He's far from perfect though, of course, and I don't agree with all his policies.
I think overall our country's better off than it used to be. I mean sure, maybe there's way too much gov't surveillance and we're in debt, but it a lot of ways we've progressed greatly. Racial inequality has been lessened a lot. We no longer have legal slavery or segregation. We no longer have legal lynch mobs.
And even though kids today might seem uncaring or like slackers to the older generations today, I think it's pretty cool that they have more access to education and valuable information than any other previous generation in human history has ever had, thanks to the internet. The downside of that being the flood of social media, and the short attention spans of a lot of today's youths, I guess.

America needs to stop caring so much about financial equality. If you tax the people who make the money to give to the people who don't have the money the rich now have less money.
As shown in the cycle below
1: The rich have less money, so they can hire less people. This causes more unemployment. Which causes need for even more taxes on the people who make money.
2: Repeat #1 until outsourcing starts to happen.
Now there are fewer jobs in the pool. and unemployment is still growing. Not only did that not solve anything, it actually made it worse.

That's another issue that bothers me, wages, especially minimum wage. I just can't believe people who have the audacity to ask for double their wage, instead of the lowest wage they make now (in NY it's $7.25.) They quickly forget two reasons: 1) Non - skilled work 2)Labor cost. People expect $15 an hour for flipping burgers all day? That's just ridiculous. Their minimum wage being you don't need to meet as many qualifications and is much easier to get. And, of course, labor cost. Why would an employer pay you twice the amount for tasks that could be done by a 16 year old? The paradigm of older people taking up more minimum wage jobs is becoming much more apparent in America. Sort of a rant, but it's just unfathomable to me that some people would ask of this for a non-skilled job.

It's not just America. Almost all English-speaking countries on the planet are going majorly downhill, because of the rapid rise of China and India's respective economies.
The only way for any country to succeed now is to invest heavily in Indian or Chinese companies. There's no denying that they're on the way to becoming the new world powers.
(Though I never thought America was a world power in the first place, since to be a world power, you actually have to care about the rest of the world, not just what the rest of the world can do for your wallet, But that's a debate for another time :/) |

Exactly Giants! This country is going down hill!  . Vlexis, ill say this, when it was Obama vs McCain, I would have gone with Obama. But after 4 years of Obama failing hard, I wanted Romney alot more, even though i didnt super like him. Obama has failied in everything and has had so many scandels with no frickin conclusions.... like idk, Benghazi! Fast and furious! Wire tapping AP! Wire tapping James Rosen, fox news head correspondent in Washington! Then filling out charges against him for leaking classified information! Then lets see, fast and furious... Acutually, America isn't doing too badly relative to other countries. Europe's economy is stagnant while America's is moderately growing. Middle East is in a crisis, Africa is still impoverished (although its economy is about to boom). Even the rapidly developing countries have their issues as well. China's environment is an utter catastrophe while its massive local government debt can potentially trigger a financial collapse. India has a bunch of social issues (i.e. rape and gender inequality) as well as rampant government corruption. Even though America is dumbing down its education system, it still has the greatest universities on the planet and the brightest minds still flock to here to live.
Fun fact: More Chinese people think America is the greatest superpower than the Americans themselves (% wise).
