Eight years, I can't believe that eight years just went up and left so quickly. It's been that long since the zombies gametype started, first with Zombies With Dynasty, Zombies with Durran and Grim. Later ZA, which brought us all together. But eight years have come and gone. We've got to experience zombies together, and now the site is a mere shadow of it's former self. Everyone has just gone there separate ways. So all I ask of everyone that still comes here to check out things, whatcha up to? I know ODST and Carnage, like myself are doing college work. Slim got a job and I just wanna see what everyone is doing.
Sidenote: if anyone remembers way back in ZWD, I was UCBSMikhail, I thought it'd be funny to play Halo zombies as a professional Russian. lol (I think only Ninja is left to know what the hell I'm talking about) |

Doing computer work along with computer classes. Getting ready to break into the mobile gaming business. Some of us just wanna make games instead of play them.
ODIS, you're doing Physics right? |

I'm majoring in creative writing. Still got a year or so of school left before I get my degree. Trying to get my writing published. Working on the novel I started six years ago.

I'm in my final year of undergraduate maths degree. Thinking about next steps at the moment - could be further study or straight into employment, depending on grades and job opportunities. For now, focus is on exams in late May / early June.
What are you specialising in, ODST?
Is there are specific platform and/or genre that you're interested in, drk?
Vlexis, can you tell us what the novel's about, or is it still *hush hush*?

We're looking at a variety of genres. Like action to rpg. But we're still discussing ideas for ios and Android.
Ninja, have you looked at econonics/business? Not much money in academia I'd think lol |

I was planning to attend at my current school for ms/phd in physics, unfortunately this year is extremely bad for funding with my department. Im considering taking a jump over to a masters in math at my current school, probably specializing in analysis . Other places im applying to include Michigan Tech, University of Oklahoma, Washington university in St Louis, University of alaska Fairbanks. Research wise, I am not quite sure. I am an enthusiastic fan of all physics, I have experience from Atmospheric physics modeling clouds hurricanes in the tropics, studying chandra data on Young stellar objects and assembling instrumentation. So i have had a good blend of research which is useful to applying schools, on the other hand too many personal statements. I really am quite open to anything other then bio physics, though tbh there are even parts of that interest me. Ninja, have you looked at wall street or stock market area? Quite a number of Math people from what I've heard have worked on modeling the stock market, it happens that the stock market can be modeled by pdes, and there is quite a diverse field related to it from what ive heard. Though I know you live in Britain, so I dont know if youd want to move over seas. , and also it depends on your experience with pdes, but probs and stats is probably useful as well

Well I would have to recommend taking a masters in mathematics! Analysis is a fascinating area, though potentially quite alien if you're new to it. Mathematicians often throw around the word 'beautiful' when describing their theory but I believe that many results in the field of Complex Analysis are truly elegant. Regardless, it sounds like you have a wealth of experience and interests so I'm sure you'll find somewhere.
I took an internship related to the quantitative side of finance last summer so that's an option. At university, we've just been learning about the Black-Scholes (Nobel prize-winning!) model of derivatives in the stock market. The mathematics behind it is quite interesting (Brownian motion, martingales, etc.) actually. Many companies will have offices in the US, Europe and Asia (often New York, London, Hong Kong) so wouldn't necessarily need to travel far. I'm not super motivated by a huge salary - though I wouldn't turn it away - more just keen to find something suitable interesting and challenging.
Since I've mostly been studying statistically-inclined courses I'm looking at data science roles which seem to be a blooming area (though quite hard to describe what the role actually is!). For that, I think it might be beneficial to have a master's degree, especially if I want some specific knowledge of more modern techniques such as Bayesian statistics and machine learning. Another option is software engineering as I've been teaching myself programming in my free time.

I'm not sure how it is in the UK, but I know both in Canada and the U.S, grad school is usually covered by T.Aing, so if money is not a big factor, you can eak out a living in grad school for freeish but there becomes a point where you dont need to take classes, you just learn it . Indeed, I as well do not care about the money, more of the challenge, and math analysis sounds quite challenging, but well worth it. That sounds crazy ninja, we need a doctor stat jk puns, yeah i know, i can punish. That sounds like fun though ninja, there is so much more math i must explore. Physics too, but math more.... : My school also has an industrial mathematics and operations research, but eh, analysis sounds the hardest and most fascinating area.

At my university at least, we don't have TA's as such. Lectures are given by a post-doc or professor. Meanwhile us students work on 'example sheets' full of questions pertaining to the course and meet in pairs with 'supervisors' to go through our solutions. The supervisors will usually be PhD students, post-docs, fellows or professors. There isn't really an opportunity for masters students to take on a teaching role. But we can take out a loan and worry about money later.
You should take into account both what interests you and what will be useful for your career when choosing a specialisation. If you've only ever done applied-style calculus then analysis will be a strange but interesting new approach. But if you're planning to stay in academic in physics then a more applied course may be more helpful. In pure math, we're usually happy to say "I've proved that a unique solution exists" whereas physicists will want to know what the solution is!

I'm about to enter my third year of university. I'm majoring in Computer Science. Sometimes I look back at the mods I've done, especially for our server. I'll make some tweaks or rarely I'll add large features to maps just for fun. I don't really play a wide variety of games. Recently, I got a chance to play halo 5 multiplayer. I liked it more than Halo 4 and reach's multiplayer for sure, but nothing can quite compare to Halo 1 and 2 multiplayer. I miss you all!

I missss the claaàaan!
Me and adder are good. Tyler is almost 5 and the new baby is 2 months old. They're awesome. I graduated finally but never went back to work, so we homeschool. Adder is almost done with school, too. My mom got cancer and had a mastectomy and is in chemo and radiation therapy. Kevin got a promotion so we got a bigger place, which feels nice. We vacationed in Peru last year and it was wicked fun. Besides having another baby, nothing big has happened with us.
I miss and love you all. Anyone on Facebook? Snapchat? Insta?
Xoxo
