Hi, my name is {ØZ}Winning. I've played at your servers for nearly a year now, but each time I do, I get in some sort of argument with a member.
You DO NOT display your rules in server. @rules simply tells people what a zombie server is. Whenever I do something that is "against the rules", I am threatened with a kick or ban for something that is not displayed in the server.
Telling people that "the rules are on the website" is NOT showing the rules. I guarantee you that less than 5% of people who aren't clan members who have played at your servers have actually checked the rules on your website.
It is a hassle and absolutely no one does it. To expect people to follow rules you don't display is absolutely ridiculous. I was doing something as simple as teaming with a friend in a zombie server, and was told to stop or I'd be banned because it was "against the rules". You CAN NOT do this. By doing this, you give yourselves the ability to make up rules on the spot and kick people when you aren't pleased with what they're doing. I find this to be ridiculous, as do many, many other players of the Halo community.
After being told incredibly sarcastically to come complain on the website, I decided I would. I would like to get a legitimate response as to why not displaying rules in a server is okay and any sort of progress being made on this issue.

I agree. The rules really need to be displayed on the server.
And ZA members shouldn't have been using sarcasm to refer you to the website. That is ridiculous behaviour.
Thanks for actually coming to the website anyway though. Arguing madly on the server is just annoying for everyone. |

Well, first of all I'm sure the leaders will take your complaint into Consideration. Secondly, there are to many rules to display for in game. If you think its to much then that's your problem. If its to hard to visit the website as it AUTO pops up all the time during gameplay, again not our problem. Thirdly, players get multiple warnings before action is taken unless its an extreme offense. If you continue to ignored Warnings expect action to be taken against you period. Finally, I appreciate your post and maybe some of major basic rules to follow can be scripted into the server. Also, I have never seen you before and will ask an OZ admin if you are really a clan member of OZ to verify who you are. Unfortunately we get people who simply try to make us look bad when that's not the case. I don't appreciate you posting a vote stating this our server and we do what we want. That immediately shows disrespect. I would like to hear complaints from your leaders as I'm sure they would show a little more respect. |

Well thanx for taking the time to come to the site but im gonna have to disagree with everything you have said. It takes a mere few seconds to come to the site and read our rules, which are actually very basic (and you dont need to reister to view the rules), they consist mainly of basic manners, no botting, no laddering. If you cant follow basic rules yes, do expect to be warned that your gonna get kicked.And the fact that r
the server doesnt show our riles isnt an argument.
So a few things.
Dont argue with our members in the servers take it to xfire or the site if need be.
Realistically we cant show the rules in the server as there is to many. We have a website for these kind of things.
And yes we can do this as its our servers so they fall under our rulea if you refuse to follow them expect to be kicked/banned.
Also how did you expect to be told you are complaining because you wont follow our rules........ |

I actually agree with this, and I feel like it has been brought up more than once. We need to change the @rules to something other than "zombies melee humans this is zombies". We have the ability to make multiple rule pages (@rules @rules2 exc.) and many people don't want to take the effort to go to the site. In fact, most of the times when someone is Permamuted, it is within only ONE session of play time.
Is there some way that we can change this , maybe via VPS so we don't have to force slim to do it every time we want to update the rules or server messages?
Winning,I would like to point out that we DO have rules on the site here. To list them briefly
•Don't argue with admins
•Be kind to other players (swearing is allowed if not directed at others.)
•RQing or going AFK will result in a kick/ban
•Spamming is forbidden
•Zombies should be actively trying to infect humans
•Humans may not jetpack or ladder
•Offensive/sexual names are not allowed
•Blocking isn't allowed
•3rd party programs (IE Auticlicker, bluewall, bots) are forbidden; anyone caught using one shall be perma banned
•Absolutely no recruiting for other clans
If possible, we should condense this list and put it in the @ rules. Before I was an admin long ago, I remember dealing with a player in Pro2 while the admin I called was on her way. He stated that cursing at others was allowed, because it wasn't in the @rules command.
IMHO, we should either take away the rule command because it creates confusion, or put actual rules on it.
(The beginning of the game message is the same as the @rules command currently. Does the @rules act as a seed for the beginning of the game message? If so, we could make a new command @about or @zombies and put that text in there and seed the beginning of the game message with that...)
Also, complaints about the server should not be voiced or argued about in the game. This kinda is like dont argue with admins.. It's disrespectful. I agree there needs to be a change, but why must you argue and fight with our members while in game about something they can't personally change? Also your poll choices were slightly disrespectful in the way you worded them.
I'd also like to point out that since our rules are posted, they are clear on whet can or cannot be done. Members won't "make up rules on the spot" and admins have guidelines about how to admin and how harsh to be, and what the actual rules are. The fact that the rules aren't posted in server doesn't give members or admins free license to make up rules.
Sorry for the long post.. But something NEEDS to be done.

I agree that the @rules needs to be a little more specific, but I have to ask. If you've been coming to the server for about a year , why don't you know the rules by now? The rules arent very intricate or anything. With that being said, I like the idea that Paradox brought up. I think multiple in game rule pages options would be very helpful to new players and regulars alike. It allows admins and other members of ZA to refer a problem individual or just someone who is curious about to the rules, before taking actions. It also would eliminate the "I don't know the rules" or "I don't want to go to the website" nonsense.

Before we ban for long periods of time or permamute, admins generally refer the individual(s) to Foodclan.com to read the rules. Most of the time they don't go. Fixing the @rules would allow an individual to see there IS a rule against it, because being referenced to a site where our rules are clearly posted is obviously too much for some people.

Which server does he play in? If stats what's his rank for proof he has been playing there for a year since it ZA's most popular server. Why wait a year to post a complaint? I think a check should be in order to find out if he is who i think he is. Just doesn't make sense to post about it now after all this time. Like I said, never seen him in the servers before and I play A LOT. |

You are coming off as very disrespectful by coming to our website and posting on our forums what we NEED to do with OUR servers. You'll also notice from our rules page that it is OUR server and therefore by playing in them you agree to follow by OUR rules. Ignorance of the rules does not excuse you from being subject to following them or being punished when you break them. The website to access the rules is listed frequently in the server so everyone who plays has access to them in some fashion and like Castelli said you don't have to make a site account to read them. It's just like everyone being required to follow all the laws of the government penal code even though you don't get handed a copy at birth; they are still available/enforced and you still have to follow them.
Frankly your voting options are rude, your overall tone is rude and I find it hard to believe that you really expect us to take you seriously when you approach us in such a manner.

It's not necessary to post all the rules in the servers. If people don't want to spend few minutes to go to the site to read the rules then that's not a valid excuse to not follow the rules. You don't even need to go to the site to know the rules. All the admins, even ZA members, are always explaining the rules in the servers. We do not expect you to know all the rules by heart when you just start to play, but when an admin tells you that you can't do that, then you shouldn't do that. Instead of arguing with the admins you should just listen to the admins. It's very simple.

You can't guarantee that. You made those statistics up. I have a bit more access to that kind of knowledge running this site and the servers and all, and its quite a bit more people than that reading our rules. We have many more people that follow the rules than break them, so check your stats again, mate.
Next, it takes a lot of money, time, effort, and man power to keep our servers, site, and clan in the shape that their in. We are an excellent clan and do the best we can, better than alot of other people or clans could manage. We have a system that has taken 3 years to get where it is, and countless hours of effort and input from VOLUNTEERS who give their time and money without asking for much in return except an amazing server to play in - which we provide. We've purchased AND earned the right to do whatever we want with out clan and servers. The servers are actually for clan members, but we're nice enough to share them with the public. You should feel grateful rather than entitled. Last I checked, we didn't owe you anything.
We appreciate every regular in our servers and they are our friends, they get invited to our parties, hang out on our site, come to za events, etc - they are the people we run the servers for - the people who try to contribute to our awesomeness by READING THE RULES ON THE SITE. If someone is too lazy to read a few rules online - when they're already online sitting in front of a computer isn't our problem. People THAT lazy need to be shot. So if you or anyone wants to play in a server that took that much effort to put together, they should show some respect and appreciation by learning the rules, not just for our sake - but for their own so they don't get banned.
Finally, if you have such great ideas for a server and rules and running things, please - help yourself. Purchase a server - script what you need, add the rules - put in all the money and hours that we do - then come back and make your request a little more thoughtfully and respectfully.
Since I've seen that you have read our rules on the site now - please be warned - any further rule breaking will be inexcusable.

Carnage, sorry but I think his manner is totally understandable. This is an issue that is quite irritating. He isn't being overly disrespectful really.
Anyway, I agree with Paradox. The rules should be shown at least in a condensed list form.
Although yes, the website shows the rules quite clearly(if you know which page to go to. Titles need to be changed btw), it would be much more convenient for everyone if the rules were shown in-game. Not just because they're too lazy to open the website up. Rather because they shouldn't be forced to leave the game just to check the rules. That's not laziness, that's sense. It's quite annoying having to leave a game just to check the rules, especially if you've been playing for a few rounds. |

This isn't some one-off player, this is someone who claims to have played with us for 1 year. If in all that time he was too lazy to ask an admin for help, use xfire, or come to the site - it's OUR fault for not making rules scroll across the page? That seems very unfair - anyone NEW person playing in our rules will see the message to check rules on the site - and if they ARE too lazy to do it right then and there then come back - we have regulars, members, and admins in game to enforce the rules. I don't see the need for blame or insults. I will add a few rules, however - so next time no one will have any excuse for breaking them and won't be able to cry about it cause they were too lazy to check the rules - we can just ban or kick.

These are the rules that will be placed in game at the earliest opportunity. I hope you understand that we will not be required to give so many warnings now for rule breakers since this gives everyone absolutely no excuse for acting a fool - you included.
Add more rules to server chat across all zombie phasor servers (can use @rules2)
Respect other players and admins.
Zombies try to kill humans.
Humans do not ladder, jetpack, or stunt.
Do not block, telecamp or teleblock.
Do not hack, bot, or cheat.
Do not spawn kill.
Do not quit upon being infected or as last man standing.

Not like enough hasn't been said but although it would be nice to have a condensed sort of rules in-game you can't really get at us about this like we're in the wrong.
'You can't expect people to follow rules you don't display?' Of course we can. Beyond the actual rules of how to play zombies (which is in-game) most of our rules are common sense (don't insult people, no botting, etc.) and the rest (such as no laddering) is corrected with a quick 'xxx isn't allowed here.' The government do not display the full laws of the country on signs around cities but people still obey the law. Enough people read the rules (not to mention that, more often than not, there's a ZA member in the server) to make sure it's not a problem.
If you don't know the rules I'd hope that anyone correcting you or explaining would be understanding. Anyone who wants to follow the rules and listens to warnings will never get kicked/banned/muted.

-If you been playing so long on the servers, don't you think you would spend at least a minute visiting the website of a server you been playing on for a year?
-And always remember the most important rule...have fun =)
