Making our own custom maps

So I've been researching a lot on halo custom edition and was looking at different things you can do. I've researched videos and readings and its really legitimate. Just look on youtube and a lot of you guys will find stuff about it. I've already been trying to make maps on my own but so far all i can get is the color of the maps not features. It's a long process but well worth it. If we can make our own maps, i'm sure more people will join. This would only work on Halo Custom Edition, not regular its the only flaw. I have the site to get custom however, it's completely free for those who don't know all you need is your product key.(on the case that your halo cd came in)

I've made few of The Legend of Zelda maps with my mapping team such as The Land of Hyrules, Twilight Princess Kakariko Village, and both Windfall Island + Outset Island. The only problem is that I can't do everything on a map solo. So I can do few things on mapping such as mostly with the tagging, scenery, and building lightmaps/cache of the map. The things I cannot do are mainly with the BSP like custom modeling, portaling, and fixing errors. Although I do know how to UVW texture.

you think itd be possible to try if you and your team are in, ill try coming up with models of maps for us and we can all work on it together. Shading, lighting is all possible i know, but so far like you said i havent seen anything with modeling. i found that through paint pro, its possible to make the background image such as the ground and structures come last then we paint them but its possible. ive also found that with these custom maps they become glitchy and ive glitched through walls and the picture frame rate becomes totally messy and hard to see where your going. So far thats the only problem and that we dont have a strong enough script server.

My map making friend just returned 2 days ago. So we started working back onto finishing the Windfall_Island_v.2 map. There will be a lot more stuff added to the map. You will soon see the inside rooms of each building.

Also keep in mind you can do a lot of modding with tools like eschaton, although you can do a lot more with the CE tools. |

Yes, CE is much more useful and could reap more benefits from using it.

I still prefer Halo Custom Edition maps to be played in Halo Custom Edition without getting any errors and being 100% error-free from the conversion.

only problem with custom edition maps is there laggy so what do you guys think want to make our own custom map we can even make the background say za the only problem is our scripts and not everyone has ce but if this can go more public maybe put in our pro stats that is public and say that if you join za you get benefits of playing our own made maps which no other clans really have. i also posted the site to get ce so i think we could do this.

They are not really laggy. If you have a bad computer getting bad amount of FPS in Halo, then the custom maps that are like extra big in size along with megabytes worth of textures will cause the framerate to drop. But if you have a decent computer that can run default Halo with 200+ FPS, then you run all of the custom maps in CE without a problem. Also as for the current custom map me and my friend are currently working on would suite best for scrim gameplay type of gametypes, hidenseek, and even zombies. That's why we are working really hard into completing this map 100%.

I've already mentioned to you that I cannot work on any other projects as I'm too busy with this current The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker's Windfall Island map with my friend..

Visit http://www.halomaps.org/ and the forums there. They have all sorts of tutorials about map making. Or you can even search on Youtube about it. The Halomaps website itself has plenty of tutorial videos uploaded into making your own custom maps. Also if you need help or stuck at something, you can always make a new thread in that website on a certain particular thing you need help with. Remember, mostly everyone in there has their own projects to work on as well, so I wouldn't request anything from them but just to ask for help verbally.
