Can be serious, but mainly a silly thread on what would happen if you divided by zero...

Within the standard field of real numbers, division by zero isn't defined. If you try to divide by zero, you'll just get gibberish - this is how "proofs" that 0=1 tend to arise.
However, it is possible to consistently define mathematical objects that involve 'division by zero' and 'infinity'. For example, we define the Möbius maps over the extended complex plane C U {infinity} - the union of the complex plane and infinity.

Wouldn't it be as you get closer to dividing by 0, the closer you get to infinity then? or am I thinking of something else? o.O

Yes. We could say that the limit of 1/x as x tends to zero (from above) is infinity. One has to be very careful introducing something like 1/0 = infinity; though. You'd have to answer difficult questions like 1 + infinity = ? and 2 * infinity = ? and 0 * infinity = ?, which may have unexpected consequences.

Ooh okay..Gotcha.
I think i was thinking of sin/cos/tan graphs wheb I was about it but guess it's relevant. But still cool

The universe implodes if you divide by zero.

This.
Division is glorified subtraction. 20÷4=5. Why? 20-4=16,16-4=12,12-4=8,8-4=4,4-4=0. 5 subtraction statements. Dividing by zero is not so simple. 10÷0= 10-0. But, how many times? Infinitely many times. Thinking this way, you could say 10÷0=Infinity. But that means you can use infinity as any other number (excluding things like Sums, or the weird shaped E). You get answers like 10=400,005. It's gobble-de-guk. It doesn't work.
