imagine you are a little 9 year old girl and someone says they have a puppy to show you so you go into their house but theres no puppy. instead someone forces 2 plastic bags over your head and proceeds to rape the girl and when he is done he chokes you to death with a belt. now imagine you are her mother, your duaghter has gone missing and you start handing out fliers. you don't know it but the same person who killed your daughter is standing next to you helping you hand out the fliers and helping in the manhunt. this actually happened to megan kanka.
megans law is a law the requires law enforcement to notify all civilians of convicted sexual predators in the country.
do you support this law?
if not why?

Yes I support Megans law. I know that some people will say that with intense psychotherapy sexual predators will be able to recover and change but I say why take the chance. Knowledge is power. If i was a mother with small children I would definitely want to know if there was a predator living nearby. However what I do not agree with if when people learn of the predators proximity to them and they begin harassing them and vandalizing them. I looked up online recently how many sexual crime felons lived near me and I was shocked to find that 3 lived on my street. Of course I am grown and am not worried about them because frankly I have seen their pictures and could likely kick their asses if they come into my house but my next door neighbor has little girls that frequently ride up and down the street on bikes unsupervised and that is disturbing.

I would want to know if there was a predator anywhere near my street or town, they could just travel to my area and happen to find people I know.
Knowing there is a predator in the country is a better idea, they may travel miles and be in your town so knowing about these kind of people is safety. |

I agree completly, i understand that people have feelings and dont want to be noticed if they can help it but the populations safety is what counts over one persons feelings.

OMG like what happen to Jacey Duggard or whatever her name is - held captive for years and forced to have two children with her rapist.
Sexual predators and child predators are the worst kind. I think there should be a death penalty for these people, even if their victims survive the attack. They should have to have red houses with PEDO BEAR LIVES HERE written all over it with neon yellow letters. They should have to wear ankle monitors and get castrated. Their eyes should be sewn shut and their thumbs cut off. They should be spoon fed arsenic until they vomit their intestines.

I completely support Megan's law. Think about it, if you were a parent, and you have a son or daughter, wouldn't you want to know who's a danger to everyone, even though it's violating the person's privacy, but that's what they deserve for their crime.
And Star, I completely 100% agree with you, but I don't think anyone else should deserve the death penalty :/ Which comes to the other thread =P |

Not the death penalty, becuase then all rapers / people commiting assult would have to be sentenced the same and it will cause all sourts of fueds on wheter wheter it applies to kids or/and adults.
Those people should have that on thier permanent record so employers dont employ them on jobs such as daycares, gym teachers, etc.

Keep in mind that peeing in public is considered a sex crime and will get you on the national sex offenders list...so that could be why you see so many. But many of them are actual hard felons like rapists.
