I wasn't attacking you nor your fact. The US likes spending. I was just making a fact about how statisticians tend to over or underplay numbers by using invalid percentages.

Sorry for over reacting. I hope you forgive me.
I completely understand what you meant, I had to read it a third time. But still, I felt attacked -.-"
I like the fact itself, but Para has a point when saying that 6 million dollars is pocket lint to the U.S. government, so 49,000 times larger isn't as obscene as it looks on paper. Though I still think it's funny how much more the U.S. depends on China for goods now than it did 20 years ago.
- This year, in 2013, China will surpass the United States in scientific research.

There is a problem with direct comparison without absolute numbers. For example.
1 child gets cancer in say, Indonesia. The next year, 5 childeren get cancer.
Some famous organization, wanting to get free money and stuff quotes this
"Child cancer rates increase by more than 500% in Indonesia this year. This is an epicemic". People over estimate stats all the time. What if our debt to china in 1985 was, say, 16 dollars and a slice of bacon?
In 1985 the USA owed about $6,000,000. In 2012 it was about $295,422,500,000. So it's about 49,237 larger than it was in 1985.
Happy you conspiracy theorist?
statistician*
in international government-owing terms, is $6000000 actually that much anyway?
Using the inflation calculator, it's really $12,793,176.97.
How much is significant enough for you Hat of Love? Be as specific as possible, give me the magical number.
I stated a fact, and now both of you are attacking me? I love the equality in this clan.
we're not victimising you, brick, stop making out that you are.
and let's not turn this into another debate thread, i've had enough of those.
my signature broke, here is a fox snek:
This day in 2009, After allegedly striking a flock of geese, US Airways Flight 1549, en route from La Guardia Airport, New York City, to Charlotte, N.C., is forced to land in the Hudson River. All 150 passengers and 5 crew members survived. The pilot, Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III, was hailed as the "Hero of the Hudson" for his quick thinking and deft landing of the plane.
