I was thinking today in school about how many different life experiences we as humans can have. And how blessed we are for having them.
I think it would be nice just to have an area on this site where we can talk about things we've experienced in our life times just moving day to day. Things that make us who we are.
No rules here, just write things about yourself or even quotes you've heard that really hit home to you.
Years ago I was outside with some buddies and they dared me to jump into the snow with my shirt off. I did it and they held me down. The pain was horrific. I'm glad I have that in my memory, though, it's just a goofy thing I can always remember doing because I was dumb. In some way, it had to do with shaping me and making me who I am.

I've been partially deaf for darn near my whole life and because of that I have to really pay attention and focus on the individuals when they are talking. It has helped me become a great listener.
Here is a little mantra that I live by as well.
"Never Give Up"
"Luceo Non Uro" means I Shine, not Burn

My motto is 'Fuck, ocelots.' The comma is important but not as important as it should be.

Very nice Brick. Sorry to hear that Macca, I have some hearing damage as well. I used to turn up my music way louder than I should have so I couldn't hear my parents fighting.. Now my ears ring non-stop. I once had a serious urge to drill my ears, I had the drill in my hand and everything.

The Past is a memory.
The Present is a passing thought.
The Future is all that matters.
Could probably phrase that better but that's kinda what I live by.
I also believe in the idea of self-sufficiency and free will. So I guess this quote from myself is my legacy and what I believe in:
"Without freedom, there can be no life. Without life, there can be no freedom."
(Which is why I keep insisting that the government is only a necessary evil in order to maintain at least a balance of freedom)
Also, from an anime film I watched:
"Without death, there can be no life"
So I'm totally against immortality. That anime film is so touching in so many ways. That quote's the icing on the top of the cake. Lived by it ever since. Death is a necessity, just as life is.
The film's called 'Tales from Earthsea'.
I also highly believe in a quote from Lord of the Rings,
"FOR THE SHIRE!!!"
Totally my war cry. Ditch the hail the queen stuff. Couldn't care less about all that rubbish. Power to the shirefolk!
Oh and:
"Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."
Adapt that to reality and it is or should be one of the most important things ever to be said throughout time, even if it is a quote in a fictional book. |

The unexamined life is not worth living for a human being.
Allegedly quoted from Plato.
I adhere vehemently to this philosophy. Acceptance without question is ignorance.

Knees were shaking during my speech today, I got a 84% on it because I was not necessarily talking to the audience. Other than that, the writing itself was great, thanks to Star.
I had to stay at school today until 5PM (usually get out at 2:20). I have to go in tomorrow at 7am and leave at 6pm. All for a music program we sponsor.

"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place."
"There are really two types of people in this world. Those who say I can't, and those who say I can."
Everyone has rough days and in life you have to learn to deal with the peaks and valleys. You just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Life can get better, but you have to make the effort to make it better. No one is going to do it for you.

This kind of goes off of what Macca said.
I'm 16, and I have recently realized and been aware of for the first time that I'm nearly an adult. I always thought that being in high school was stressful, worrying about grades and such seems very important. Then I thought, "What am I worried about?" I still have university and a whole life ahead of me to experience new things and have fun. I am among the minority who are unbelievable lucky enough to be born in a rich country, where I always know I can get a good education, and I always know I'll be employed. I wont let an opportunity such as this go to waste. I may be concerned about things now, but these issues are really quite trivial when I think of how I've lived such a small portion of my life. Things may look rough now, but you have the rest of your life to make it better. Don't sweat the small stuff. Don't let present problems overshadow your future. We all only get one life, why not make it a good one?
Never judge a book by its movie. |

I find it was so hard 3 years ago going through my divorce and took two of those years before it finally hit me to move on and that I am still to young to dwell on things and need to continue to enjoy life. Life is really to short, but work hard and achieve what you want. |
